The president of Desert Flower Foundation Africa, Rev. Fr. Peter Alpha Konteh donates school furniture (Desks and Chairs) to the Kiera Chaplin Desert Flower School at the River # 2 village.
The physical comfort of the pupils in the classroom is a topic that is often neglected and needs to be addressed. Children spend as long as 7 hours at their desks every day and almost 45% of them sit on desks and chairs that are not suitable for their Health and body height. The president of Desert Flower Foundation Fr. Peter Konteh believes that Classroom Ergonomics plays an important role in the learning environment. Since the establishment of the Kiera Chaplin Desert Flower School, the president and the school management led by Mr. Bamie Sam, the Manager of the Desert Flower Schools Sierra Leone upgrade the school curriculum and pedagogy regularly in order to meet the new standards of Education and attention is also paid to classroom ergonomics, i.e seating arrangement, desks, and chairs in the classroom which are one of the most crucial elements of a learning environment. Classroom furniture must fit the pupils, allow movement and hence invariably encourage a good posture. Movement plays an important part in seating. All these factors have a major impact on the learning of pupils and can immensely improve their performance in school.
We believe that a good learning environment and good health go hand in hand.
