On the 6th of February 2020, Desert Flower Foundation joined the entire world to make an effort to provide awareness and help put an end to female genital mutilation by speaking up against FGM. For the past seven (7) years Waris Dirie – Founder and CEO, and Rev. Fr. Peter Konteh who is the Executive Director of Caritas and double as the President of Desert Flower Foundation Sierra Leone Launched a sponsorship program to Save children (girls) from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the country. The goal of the Desert Flower Foundation in sierra Leone, is to educate and inform people worldwide, to support women affected by FGM and to save girls from this inhuman practice, which should not exist in our society in the 21th century.
