In our drive-in educating our beneficiaries, parents and caregivers about FGM, DFF-SL held workshop Training in the Newton Community- Western Rural District, Western Area; Lungi Community-North-west Region and Magburukar community-Northern Region of Sierra Leone. Some of the topics discussed were as follows: (1). The general concept about FGM (by Ms Isatta French), (2). Safeguarding Policy (by Mr Emmanuel J S Kanagyo), (3). The Operational structure of DFF-SL (by Mr Alfred Sankoh) and (4). How the Locally-led Initiative can be used to Eradicate FGM (by Mrs Wuyatta Genda). These topics were carefully put together to reflect and address emerging and cross-cultural issues of FGM in our contemporary times. Word of appreciation,
Praises and thanks were done by community actors, parents and caregivers as well as the DFFSL beneficiaries. The beneficiaries in particular were so happy for the workshop training and the sessions, reaffirming that the knowledge they acquired during the training sessions has convinced them more not to be a part of FGM.
The workshop was concluded with the disbursement of monthly sponsorship support to each beneficiary present for their education and welfare. As an institution, Desert Flower Foundation believes that education is the safest way to eradicate FGM.
